Middelburg Station Live, NL Cam

The station bridge crosses the canal beside Middelburg station, in the province of Zeeland in the Netherlands. The webcam looks over the water, the bridge and the platforms.

The bridge opens for boats on the Walcheren canal, which runs from Vlissingen on the Westerschelde through to Veere on the north side of the island. Road, rail and water traffic all stop for each other here in turn.

Almost everything behind the camera is a reconstruction. The middle of Middelburg was bombed and burned out in May 1940, and the town hall, the abbey and the streets around them were rebuilt after the war to look much as they had before.
