Vlissingen, Netherlands Live Cam

A tanker works its way along the Westerschelde past the tiled roofs of Vlissingen, with the Oranjemolen standing on the sea dyke to the right. Grey water and a low horizon fill the top half of the frame.

This estuary is the shipping route to Antwerp and one of the busiest waterways in Europe. Pilots board here, so vessels of every size pass within a few hundred metres of the seafront.

Vlissingen stands at the south west corner of Walcheren, between the estuary and the North Sea, in the province of Zeeland. Michiel de Ruyter was born in the town, the muZEEum covers its maritime history, and its promenade is the longest in the Netherlands. Ship movements pass the webcam at all hours, since the estuary works around the clock.
