Zwin Nature Reserve, Knokke-Heist Live Cam

This rotating camera looks over the Zwin nature reserve in Knokke-Heist, on the Belgian coast next to the Dutch border. Its views take in a small dune pond, scrub-covered dunes and flat pastures where horses and shaggy cattle graze.

The Zwin lies at the north-eastern end of the Belgian coast, where a tidal creek, salt marshes and mudflats meet the dunes. The area is protected as a nature reserve, and the nature park at its entrance is reached from Knokke along Graaf Léon Lippensdreef. Waders and other coastal birds use the wet ground, while grazing animals keep the meadows open.

Unlike the beach cameras elsewhere in Knokke-Heist, this one is set inland among the dunes. It turns between a pond with fenced banks in front of wooded dunes, a closer slope of dune scrub, and a long view across the polder pastures to distant lines of trees.
