Weather and time
This camera looks out from the dunes of Oostvoorne over a green salt marsh, wide tidal flats and the open North Sea beyond. Turned inland, it shows the Oostvoornse Meer behind dune scrub, with port industry on the far shore.
Oostvoorne is a village on the former island of Voorne, part of the municipality of Voorne aan Zee since 2023. Its beach was once the only one in the Netherlands open to cars, until it became a bird area in 2004. The Oostvoornse Meer formed in 1966, when a dam sealed off the Brielse Gat, and is popular with sport divers.
Facing the sea, the frame shows broad sand flats cut by shallow channels, with yellow buoys further out. Inland views take in birch thickets, stone breakwaters in the lake and, across the water, refinery chimneys, storage tanks and wind turbines of the Port of Rotterdam.
