Brouwersdam Pooltje, Netherlands Live Cam

Windsurfers and beginners on wide boards work the shallow lagoon behind the Brouwersdam at Ouddorp, in the south west of the Netherlands. Campervans stand in a line along the dam behind them.

The pool in view is waist deep, which is why the sailing and surfing centre here teaches in it. Beyond the stone bank lies the open water of the Grevelingenmeer, where the wind is stronger and the boards move faster.

The Brouwersdam was closed in 1971 as part of the Delta Works, sealing off an estuary and turning it into the largest saltwater lake in western Europe. The webcam faces the lake side of the dam, so the North Sea beaches are behind it.
