Satta Pass, Mount Fuji View Live Cam

This view from Satta Pass in Shizuoka City looks across Suruga Bay to Mount Fuji, rising behind a ridge of green hills. At the foot of the wooded slope, the coastal expressway and railway curve along the shore, and towns line the far side of the bay.

Satta Pass lies on the old Tokaido road between Yui and Okitsu in Shimizu Ward. Utagawa Hiroshige drew almost the same scene for the Yui print of his series The Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido. The narrow strip of land below the pass now carries National Route 1, the Tomei Expressway and the Tokaido Main Line.

The camera holds the Hiroshige angle, with the mountain near the centre of the frame and open water across the lower half. The summit is bare in early autumn and white with snow through winter and spring. Another camera on the same pass looks straight down at the traffic on the coastal roads.
