Weather and time
This camera in the Yamamiya district of Fujinomiya looks northeast over houses and fields to Mount Fuji, about 15 kilometres away. Steel pylons of a high-voltage power line stand in front of the lower slopes, and a tea field lies beyond a grassy lot.
Yamamiya lies on the long southwestern foot of the 3,776-metre volcano. Less than 2 kilometres to the north stands Yamamiya Sengen Shrine, which has no main hall: its altar faces the mountain itself. The shrine is part of the Mount Fuji World Heritage site.
The fixed, wide frame keeps the cone near the centre and gives more than half of the picture to the sky, so cloud on the summit is easy to follow. Below the viewpoint a prefectural road passes a corner lot with large animal figures, among them a yellow giraffe.
