Weather and time
This camera at the top of Jukkoku Pass in Kannami, Shizuoka, is aimed at Mount Fuji, which rises beyond forested ridges. Grassy hills with power line pylons fill the lower right of the frame.
Jukkoku Pass is high ground on the border of Atami and Kannami, between the Izu Peninsula and Hakone, and its summit is reached by a short cable car. The old name, ten provinces, refers to how far the view reaches. Towards the northwest that view is dominated by Mount Fuji, about 38 kilometres away, whose upper cone clears every ridge in between.
This view is turned inland, away from the sea, to where the cone of Mount Fuji stands between a long dark mountain mass on the left and low ridgelines on the right. The sky takes up over half the picture, so cloud around the summit is easy to see. Another camera at the same spot looks towards Suruga Bay.
