Ono Basin, Fukui Live Cam

This camera looks down from a forested hillside over the Ono Basin, a broad plain of farmland and villages in eastern Fukui Prefecture. A tree-lined stretch of the Mana River crosses the middle of the plain, and the town of Ono lies far off at the foot of the mountains.

The Ono Basin is an inland plain in the Okuetsu region, ringed by mountains. The camera stands on the eastern rim of the basin, roughly seven kilometres from the centre of Ono. Villages and groves of trees are scattered across the fields, and a two-peaked mountain fills the left side of the horizon.

The view is fixed, with dense forest in the foreground and the plain and its ridges beyond. Low cloud sometimes settles over the basin in the early morning, leaving only the mountain tops showing. After dark, the lights of Ono glow on the far side of the plain.
