Hinoshima Bridge, Kamiamakusa Live Cam

A fixed camera looks along the deck of Hinoshima Bridge in Kamiamakusa, past a white steel tower with a traffic signal. Calm blue water fills the left side of the frame, with a wooded headland and a few houses beyond.

Hinoshima is a small island off Amakusa Kamishima in Kumamoto Prefecture, and this bridge, about 174 metres long, is the road link to it. Kamiamakusa is a city in the northern part of the Amakusa archipelago, west of the Kyushu mainland. The shores around the strait are steep and wooded, with houses along the waterline.

The viewpoint does not move, so every frame shows the same stretch of road, tower and shoreline. What changes is the light and the water: shadows of the railings slide across the deck as the sun moves, the traffic signal switches between red, amber and green, and an occasional vehicle crosses the bridge.
