Weather and time
The Shirakawa-guchi side of Kumamoto Station is seen from above, with an open paved plaza in front of the station building. Elevated platforms with long white and grey roofs fill the right of the frame, and tall apartment towers stand behind the building.
Kumamoto Station is the main rail hub of Kumamoto city, and the Kyushu Shinkansen stops here. The east exit is called Shirakawa-guchi after the Shirakawa River that flows through the city. A road and a tram line with a grass strip run along the left side, beside curved white canopies over the walkway. A wooded hill rises beyond the tracks.
The camera is mounted high above the forecourt, so the plaza, the walkway and the tracks are all in view at once. Trains pass at platform level while cars and pedestrians move below. The framing shifts slightly during the day, but the view stays on the plaza.
