Weather and time
This camera looks at the African elephant enclosure at Kumamoto City Zoo and Botanical Garden in Kumamoto, Japan. A pair of elephants can be seen walking around their sandy yard in front of the house.
The zoo stands in Higashi Ward on the edge of Lake Ezu, and its elephant and giraffe areas lie close together in one corner of the grounds. The elephants' house has a curved cream-colored facade, arched doorways and large yellow-green leaf motifs on the walls. A shallow pool lies in front of it, and the animals use the yard mostly in the daytime hours.
The camera is fixed low behind the concrete wall of the moat and shows the full width of the yard. During the day the elephants stand beside the building, walk along it or cross the open ground, and at times the yard is empty.
