Weather and time
This camera overlooks Piazza San Rufino in Assisi and the Romanesque façade of San Rufino Cathedral with its three rose windows. The square bell tower with a clock rises on the left, and a tall cypress stands on the right side of the square.
San Rufino is the cathedral of Assisi, dedicated to Saint Rufinus, the first bishop of the town. The present church was begun in 1140 to a design by Giovanni da Gubbio and consecrated in 1253. Inside is the font where Saint Francis and Saint Clare were baptised. Carved lions and griffins flank the three portals below the rose windows.
The camera looks across the square from above, taking in the full façade, the arched passage on the left and a stone fountain in the lower corner. Cars park along the right side, and beyond the cypress a strip of the Umbrian valley opens up between the houses.
