Hofplein, Rotterdam Live Cam

This camera looks down on Hofplein, the large traffic square in central Rotterdam where Weena, Schiekade and Coolsingel meet. The octagonal basin of its fountain sits in the middle, ringed by tram tracks, cycle lanes and tall buildings.

Completed in 1955 to a design by architect J.R.A. Koops, the square was built mainly for motor traffic. Local football supporters have long gathered at its fountain to celebrate. Work began in April 2025 to turn the roundabout into a green square with about 150 new trees and fewer car lanes, while the trams and the fountain will stay.

The view is taken from high above and looks almost straight down, so the whole circle fits into one frame. Cycle paths and tram lines curve along one side, and excavators, dump trucks and new planting beds fill the building site around the fountain.
