1 December Square, Reșița Live Cam

Snow covers 1 December Square in the centre of Reșița, the county seat of Caraș-Severin in western Romania. Fir trees, a bandstand and market pavilions stand along the paved area, with blocks of flats behind them.

Reșița is one of the oldest industrial towns in the country: its ironworks began production in 1771 and built locomotives for much of the twentieth century. Preserved steam engines are displayed in an open-air museum a short distance from the square.

The town sits in the historical Banat region, in a valley on the edge of the Semenic mountains, so winters bring reliable snow. The square is the main gathering point, and the pavilions in the webcam picture are set out for the seasonal market.
