Weather and time
The historic Quadrangle lawn of the University of Nevada, Reno is seen from above, framed by rows of tall mature trees. The view runs north along a broad green lawn toward the Mackay School of Mines Building, a brick hall with a white-columned portico.
The Quadrangle is a narrow tree-lined campus lawn about 150 meters long. It was laid out in 1908 beside the Mackay School of Mines Building at its north end, with large elms planted along its edges. Morrill Hall, the oldest building on campus, marks the opposite, south end, and the lawn is part of the university's National Register historic district.
The camera looks north from a rooftop at the south end of the lawn, so the roof edge shows in the lower corners. Tree shadows slide across the grass through the day, and the canopy on both sides changes color with the seasons.
