Thayne, Star Valley Live Cam

Thayne is a town of a few hundred people in Star Valley, a broad grassy trough in western Wyoming near the Idaho line. The camera looks across the fields at the range on the eastern side.

The valley was settled in the 1880s by Mormon families sent to farm it and stayed a dairy district for a century; a cheese factory in this town was the best-known business in the area for decades.

Up a canyon to the south is Periodic Spring, one of a handful of cold-water springs anywhere that turn themselves on and off: it runs for about eighteen minutes, stops for eighteen, and starts again, most reliably in late summer.
