School of Mines Quad, Rapid City Live Cam

This camera overlooks the central quad of the School of Mines campus in Rapid City, where a brick memorial arch faces a paved plaza. A WELCOME HARDROCKERS sign hangs on the main arch, and round blue picnic tables stand on the plaza.

The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology was founded in 1885, and its sports teams are called the Hardrockers. The arch was the front entrance of the Liberal Arts Building, completed in 1901 and demolished in 1994. It was rebuilt in 1995, and its three openings stand for the first three buildings on campus.

The camera turns between several views of the quad. Besides the arch, it shows lawns crossed by curving paths, a hexagonal bench beside a young tree, and the glass and brick facades of nearby campus buildings.
