Morrow Plots, University of Illinois Live Cam

The Morrow Plots are a historic experimental crop field in the middle of the University of Illinois campus in Urbana. The view looks across the plots with a curved road and walkway in front and campus buildings rising beyond them.

The plots were laid out in 1876 and are known as one of the oldest continuously cultivated experimental crop fields in the world. They lie between the Main Quad and the South Quad, next to the university observatory. Researchers have used the field for generations to study how different crops and soil care affect yields.

The field is divided into separate plots, and the frame stays fixed on them, so the changes from planting to harvest can be followed from one view. An iron fence runs along the front of the field, and red-brick campus halls line the horizon.
