Bowleaze Cove Beach, Weymouth Live Cam

This camera looks across the shingle beach at Bowleaze Cove in Weymouth, Dorset, towards the Isle of Portland. A rusty concrete jetty with railings and a gated slipway stands at the water's edge on the left of the frame.

Bowleaze Cove lies at the eastern end of the long curve of beach around Weymouth Bay, beside Waterside Holiday Park. This stretch of the Dorset coast belongs to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. Across the bay the flat-topped bulk of Portland closes the horizon, with a long breakwater running on towards the right.

The camera is fixed and faces open water, so the picture is dominated by the sea, the sky and the island. The shingle in the foreground is edged by a dark line of seaweed left by the tide. Small sailing boats cross the bay in front of Portland on clear days.
