Weymouth Beach by the Pier Bandstand Live Cam

This camera looks south along Weymouth Beach in Dorset from its northern stretch towards the Pier Bandstand building. The curve of Weymouth Bay stretches away on the left, while the seafront terraces of the Esplanade line the right edge of the frame.

The Pier Bandstand opened in 1939 as an Art Deco entertainment venue built out over the sea on concrete piles. Most of it was demolished in 1986, and the surviving entrance building at the northern end of the Esplanade now holds a restaurant, an amusement arcade and a gift shop.

The camera is fixed at beach level. Coarse shingle fills the upper beach, a strip of fine sand lies along the waterline, and waves break along the curve of the bay. Walkers follow the water's edge, and swimmers can be spotted in the surf.
