Yakou Pass, Southern Cross-Island Highway Live Cam

This camera looks out from the Yakou mountain pass on the Southern Cross-Island Highway, high in the Central Mountain Range. Its main view is a gravel terrace with a railing above steep forested valleys.

Yakou lies at about 2,722 metres beside the Daguanshan Tunnel, the highest point of the Southern Cross-Island Highway and the highest tunnel in Taiwan. The boundary between Taitung County and Kaohsiung runs through this area. The highway reopened with restrictions in May 2022, after nearly thirteen years of closure.

The camera turns between several views. One looks from the terrace over a steep wooded ridge, others sweep across ridge after ridge of mountains, and on some days a sea of clouds fills the valley below.
