Chaikou Snorkeling Area, Green Island Live Cam

This camera watches the Chaikou Snorkeling Area, a reef-lined stretch of the north coast of Green Island in Taitung County, Taiwan. A raised walkway crosses the shallow reef flat toward breaking surf, with a headland and a white lighthouse tower far along the shore.

Chaikou is one of the two main snorkeling areas on Green Island, the other being Shilang. It suits beginners and lies on the sheltered side from June to August, when strong southwest winds blow. The area is known for stony corals and for water that changes in depth across the reef.

The camera does not hold one view. Some daylight frames show the whole bay with the lighthouse headland and the pale reef flat, others zoom in on the walkway, the surf line and visitors walking along the reef.
