Moun Fuji, Kitayama Live Cam

The Chuo Expressway passes the Uenohara interchange in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan, directly under this webcam. Three bridges cross the valley within the frame, and the road runs between wooded hills, small fields and scattered houses.

The expressway links greater Tokyo with Nagoya on an inland route through the mountains, and this section carries heavy long-distance traffic in both directions. The interchange ramps, the local road below them and the power lines on the slope are all packed into a narrow valley floor.

Traffic here builds on Friday evenings and at the ends of holiday weeks, when the route out of Tokyo backs up. The hillsides turn through autumn colour in November and hold snow in the coldest weeks of winter.
