Mount Fuji from Katsuyama, Fujikawaguchiko Live Cam

This camera at the Fuji View Hotel on Lake Kawaguchi looks south across the town of Fujikawaguchiko to the cone of Mount Fuji. Treetops of the hotel garden fill the foreground, and a band of rooftops and dark forest leads to the foot of the volcano.

Fujikawaguchiko is a town in Yamanashi Prefecture built around Lake Kawaguchi, one of the Fuji Five Lakes on the northern side of the mountain. The Fuji View Hotel opened on the southern shore of the lake in 1936 as the first Western-style hotel in Yamanashi. Its garden covers about ten hectares and holds more than 300 cherry trees.

The camera is fixed high above the garden, so the summit stands in the middle of the frame about 16 kilometres to the south. A wooded ridge closes the view on the right, and maples among the conifers in the foreground change colour with the seasons.
