Weather and time
This camera looks across the Kizu River to Kasagi Campsite, a broad grassy floodplain in the small town of Kasagi in southern Kyoto Prefecture. Tents and parked cars dot the open field, with low town buildings and forested hills rising behind it.
The Kizu River flows west here through a narrow wooded valley. Kasagi is the least populous municipality in Kyoto Prefecture, with about 1,100 residents. Mount Kasagi rises just south-east of the campsite, crowned by Kasagi-dera, the temple where Emperor Go-Daigo held out in 1331. Kasagi Station on the JR Kansai Main Line is a short walk away.
The camera stands on the opposite bank, so river water shows through the trees in the foreground while the camping field fills the middle of the frame. After dark the view turns into a scatter of tent and car lights below the outline of the hills.
