Nové Město nad Metují is a town of about 9,200 people in north-eastern Bohemia, built above a meander of the Metuje River. Its main square, Husovo náměstí, lined with gabled Renaissance houses, forms one ensemble with the castle. The Rozkoš reservoir lies a few kilometres to the north-west.
