Weather and time
This view looks down a grassy ski slope above Černý Důl, a small market town in the Giant Mountains, towards the houses in the valley. A lift line runs down the meadow past steel pylons, while a pale quarry face cuts into the wooded hillside to the right of the village.
Černý Důl lies in Trutnov District, and the northern half of its territory belongs to Krkonoše National Park. Iron ore mining here is recorded as early as 1383, and limestone has been quarried in the area since the 18th century. Today the town is known mainly for the lift-served ski slopes above its centre.
Set high on the slope, the camera keeps the lift cables and open meadow in the foreground, with the village tucked into the valley below. Further out, rolling foothills, fields and forest fade towards a distant horizon.
