Rhodopes, Smolyan Live Cam

A slope in the central Rhodopes below the Rozhen ridge: dense spruce, a cleared service line and domes on the skyline. The cut strip is the camera's sightline.

That strip through the forest carries the road and power line serving the summit installations, and snow depth on it through the winter is the quickest way to read conditions on the ridge. Small white domes stand on the horizon at the top left of the frame.

This is high Rhodope forest, mostly Norway spruce planted and regrown over the last century, and the weather in the picture changes fast: cloud pours over the crest and fills the valley within minutes.
