Spruce and pine tops fill the lower half of the frame, a rounded forested crest closes the middle distance, and the corner of a metal roof shows at the bottom right. Low sun flares across the lens in the early morning, and cloud frequently sits below the treeline rather than above it.

Where the forecourt camera shows the hotel's traffic, this one shows its weather, and the two are worth opening together. In winter the whole frame goes white and the ridge disappears for days at a time; in summer it clears to a sharp horizon by mid-morning.
