Poplars in the foreground and the city beyond them: this camera looks north-west across Plovdiv from an upper floor. One of the syenite hills rises on the right with masts on its crown.

Between the trees are apartment blocks, red-roofed houses and a scattering of cranes, and on clear days the long ridge of Sredna Gora closes the horizon. Storm cloud comes in from this direction, so the frame often shows weather arriving before it reaches the centre.

It is the greener of the operator's two city views — the other looks over the old town roofs at the hills. Here the trees take up half the picture, which makes the seasons unusually easy to read: bare poplars in February, dense green by May.
