Marasha, Plovdiv Live Cam

Mounted above an old tiled roof in the Marasha quarter, this camera watches a fenced five-a-side pitch wedged in between the houses. A goal stands at each end and a basketball hoop on the side fence.

Green artificial turf takes up most of the frame, ringed by high mesh and advertising boards. Past it the neighbourhood carries on as it has for a century: low houses with red roofs, a pink-washed wall in the corner, cars parked along a narrow street and a traffic light at the junction.

Unlike the panoramic cameras elsewhere in Plovdiv, this one has something happening in it. The pitch fills up on summer evenings and at weekends, stands empty through the working day, and in winter is usually deserted apart from the odd dog walker crossing the paving.
