Yagodina, Smolyan Live Cam

The village of Yagodina in the western Rhodopes, seen from the slope above: stone houses, a minaret and forest behind. The whole settlement fits in one frame.

Yagodina sits at about 1,000 metres in the valley of the Buynovska river, a few kilometres upstream of the Buynovo Gorge — the narrowest gorge in Bulgaria, where the road runs between walls a couple of metres apart. The Yagodina Cave, one of the longest cave systems in the country, opens in the cliff just outside the village.

The main street runs through the middle of the picture and the sun sets behind the ridge to the west. Winters here are long, and the village is a common base for walkers heading into the Trigrad area.
