Wessling Observatory, Fremont Live Cam

A fixed tower view over farm fields and tree rows north of Fremont, Michigan, with the white buildings of an observatory in the distance. A dirt farm lane runs across the foreground.

The Stephen F. Wessling Observatory stands at 6523 West Baseline Road, about six miles north of Fremont, on the Kropscott Farm in Newaygo County. The land was donated to the Newaygo Conservation District, and the observatory serves as a public stargazing site run with local amateur astronomers.

The camera looks over a green field, a dirt lane lined with trees and rows of young trees toward a red barn and groves in autumn colors. The small white observatory buildings sit among the trees at the right of the middle distance, and two radio masts rise on the horizon. At night the frame goes almost black, with only a few red and green lights showing.
