St. Croix River, Stillwater Live Cam

The Stillwater Lift Bridge crosses the St Croix River in this view from the Minnesota bank, its towers standing clear above the deck. The town waterfront runs along the near side.

The bridge was built in 1931 and carried road traffic to Wisconsin until 2017, when a new crossing opened downstream. It is now part of a loop trail for walkers and cyclists that uses both bridges and both banks.

Stillwater grew on the logging trade and calls itself the birthplace of Minnesota. The St Croix is a protected river, and the wooded bluffs above it turn colour in October; the webcam is mounted on an inn on Water Street.
