Castle Rock Peregrine Falcon Lookout, Wisconsin Live Cam

This fixed camera looks out from Castle Rock, a bluff above the Mississippi River in Buffalo County, Wisconsin. A sheer rock face fills the left side of the frame, with wooded floodplain and river channels spread out below.

The view runs over islands and backwaters of the Upper Mississippi to the city of Winona, Minnesota, and a line of tall bluffs on the horizon. A railway line follows the foot of the bluff along the shore. The camera is mounted on the same rock as the nest camera, high above the valley floor.

Unlike the Castle Rock Peregrine Falcon Nest camera, which looks into the rock alcove, this one faces outward, so the frame holds open air, forest and water instead of rock. Through the year the floodplain trees below turn from bare branches to green and then to autumn colour.
