Castle Rock Peregrine Falcon Nest, Wisconsin Live Cam

This fixed camera looks into a rock alcove on Castle Rock, a bluff above the Mississippi River in Buffalo County, Wisconsin. The frame shows a gravel-covered ledge in front of a darker recess in the cliff face.

Castle Rock stands on the Wisconsin shore of the river, a few kilometres from Winona, Minnesota. It is one of the historical eyries that peregrine falcons reoccupied after cliff-release efforts in the late 1990s, and pairs have nested here since 2002. Outside the nesting season the ledge can stand empty for long stretches.
