Massachusetts Maritime Academy Pier, Buzzards Bay Live Cam

This camera looks along a floating dock on the Massachusetts Maritime Academy waterfront in Buzzards Bay, beside a granite seawall. A gangway with an orange life ring leads down to the dock, and the dark bow of the training ship Patriot State fills the upper left corner.

Massachusetts Maritime Academy was founded in 1891 and is the second oldest state maritime academy in the United States. Since 1949 it has stood in Buzzards Bay, in the town of Bourne, at the western entrance to the Cape Cod Canal. The Patriot State has her homeport at this pier and leaves each January for the winter sea term.

The lens sits low at the head of the gangway, so the pilings, the dock and the boulders of the seawall take up most of the frame. Workboats tie up along the dock and come and go during the day.
