Weather and time
This camera looks down on the ferry slips of the Woods Hole terminal on Cape Cod from above Water Street, past a shingled house. A large white ferry and a smaller vessel lie at the berths beside the covered gangways.
Woods Hole is a village in the town of Falmouth at the southwestern tip of Cape Cod, and its terminal is the mainland departure point for Steamship Authority ferries to Martha's Vineyard. Across the water the low wooded shoreline belongs to Nonamesset Island. The village is also known for its marine research institutions.
The camera looks down on the slips rather than at the terminal building, so the loading ramps, pilings and gangways fill the middle of the frame. It is fixed, so the view stays the same while the vessels, passengers and cars change.
