Cars fill the angled spaces and line Basin Road at the public beach parking area in Menemsha, a village in Chilmark on Martha's Vineyard. A grey-shingled cottage stands beside the lot, with salt marsh and wooded hills to the right and a strip of open water on the far horizon.

Menemsha is a small fishing village in the town of Chilmark, on the eastern shore of Menemsha Pond near its opening into Vineyard Sound. The public beach lies next to the harbor, and Basin Road is the way in. The frame also takes in utility poles, shingled buildings and the tidal marsh beside the lot.

The camera is mounted above street level and stays fixed on the road and the parking lot rather than on the water. The nearby Menemsha Harbor camera looks the other way, over the fishing dock and the boats. Sun and shadow move across the lot through the day.
