Jane Bryne Interchange, Chicago Live Cam

The Jane Byrne Interchange ties three expressways together just west of the Chicago Loop, in the middle of the city. The camera looks down on the ramps from a building above them.

It was built in the early 1960s for a fraction of the traffic it now carries, and by the 2010s it was rated among the most congested interchanges in the country. A rebuild ran from 2013 to 2022 and cost close to a billion dollars.

The junction was renamed in 2014 after the first woman elected mayor of Chicago, who took office in 1979 after a snowstorm the city proved unable to clear cost her predecessor the election.
