Weather and time
This fixed camera on the prairie in south Fort Collins, Colorado, faces east toward the BNSF embankment. A thin line of track runs across the frame above the grass.
The railroad is the BNSF Front Range Subdivision, a freight route between Denver and Wyoming. At the left edge a concrete ramp leads to the Fossil Creek Trail tunnel, bored under the tracks in 2016 and 2017 to join the Fossil Creek and Mason trails, and beside it sits Sphere, an eight-foot flagstone sculpture. On-screen arrows mark northbound trains to the left and southbound to the right.
Wide sky takes up more than half of the picture, which makes passing trains appear small against the embankment. Dry grass and low shrubs cover the foreground, and a line of trees with the roofs of houses closes the horizon behind the line.
