Flagler Beach, Florida Live Cam

State Road A1A runs between the webcam and the surf at Flagler Beach, on the Atlantic coast of Florida below St Augustine. The Landmark Group provides the feed from a deck on the landward side of the road.

The sand here is not white. It carries crushed coquina, the shell rock quarried a few miles up this coast to build the Castillo de San Marcos, and it turns grey and brown where the waves work it over.

Hurricane Matthew took lanes off A1A along this stretch in October 2016 and the road was rebuilt behind a buried wall. The state park south of town is named for Gamble Rogers, the folk musician who drowned off this beach in 1991 while trying to reach a swimmer in difficulty.
