Baby Turtle Exhibit, ECHO Leahy Center for Lake Champlain Live Cam

Young softshell turtles crawl over a mesh-lined pile of flat pebbles in the baby turtle exhibit at ECHO in Burlington, Vermont. The camera looks down into the tank from above, with a green leaf-patterned backdrop along the top of the frame.

ECHO, Leahy Center for Lake Champlain is a science and nature museum on the Burlington Waterfront. With Vermont Fish and Wildlife, its animal care team overwinters eastern spiny softshell and northern map turtle hatchlings, both species of conservation concern in Vermont, and releases them into Lake Champlain the following June.

The view is a close look at the turtle tank rather than the whole exhibit room. In daytime frames the turtles rest on the pebbles or climb the black mesh, while others hide between the stones, so the number in view changes through the day.
