Ida B Domain, Koh Samui Live Cam

An infinity pool cuts across the foreground and the Gulf of Thailand fills the rest, at a small resort on the hills above Lipa Noi on Koh Samui. The webcam faces west from the terrace at Ida B Domain.

This is the quiet side of the island, turned towards the mainland rather than the open sea. The scatter of islets on the horizon is Ko Ha, the Five Islands, with the Ang Thong marine park and its forty-odd limestone islands about thirty kilometres beyond them.

The sun goes down over that water, which is why the west coast was built up first. Samui takes its rain late, from October to December, when the north-east monsoon comes across the gulf; the rest of the year is dry enough for the coconut plantations that covered the island before the hotels.
