Weather and time
This camera watches the Yanase River at Yomogi Bridge in Akitsucho, Higashimurayama, Tokyo, looking along a concrete-lined channel. A stony riverbed fills the foreground, a green road bridge crosses at the far end, and a white gauge staff is fixed to the high wall on the right.
The station stands in the Akitsucho district at the northern edge of Higashimurayama, in a neighbourhood of low-rise houses. Shin-Akitsu Station on the JR Musashino Line is about 500 m to the east, Akitsu Shrine is roughly 350 m away in the same direction, and Akitsu Higashi Elementary School lies about 500 m to the south.
The channel is cut deep between steep concrete walls, so the houses on the far side sit well above the water. The gauge staff and the bridge deck give a clear sense of how high the river stands, which is what this fixed view is for.
