Nogawa River at Osawa Retarding Basin, Mitaka Live Cam

This camera watches the Nogawa River at the Osawa retarding basin in Mitaka, looking across overgrown banks to a long concrete bridge on piers. Beyond its metal railing, a wide grass field stretches back to trees and low buildings.

The retarding basin lies in Osawa 5-chome and 6-chome and is built to hold floodwater when the Nogawa rises. Chofu Airport is about 350 m to the south-west, and the Mitaka campus of the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan lies about 400 m to the east.

The camera faces the far bank from the near side, where grass and shrubs fill the foreground down to a narrow strip of water at the bottom of the frame. A mid-rise building rises above the trees on the horizon.
