Weather and time
This camera looks into a kestrel nest box set high in the sandstone facade of the Old Town Hall on the market square of Weissenburg in Bayern. Gravel covers the floor between a wooden side panel and the open front, where a stone ledge outside catches the daylight.
The Old Town Hall was built between 1470 and 1476, when Weissenburg was a prosperous Free Imperial City. It is a Gothic building of sandstone blocks under a steep roof, and its richly decorated east gable faces the Marktplatz. An archive tower was added in 1567, and the listed building is no longer open to the public.
The fixed lens looks down onto the gravel from one corner of the box, towards the bright entrance on the left. Kestrels use the box in the breeding season, and on autumn days feral pigeons also visit the sunny ledge by the opening.
