From the roof of the Hotel Adlon this camera looks straight across Pariser Platz to the Brandenburg Gate and the Tiergarten behind it. The bronze quadriga stands out against the sky.

The fountain and lawn of the square fill the foreground, and the American embassy closes the left side of the frame. Crowds move constantly across the paving between them, thickest in the strip directly in front of the columns.

It is the busiest square in the city and this is the standard view of it, straight down the axis toward the Straße des 17. Juni. The gate is floodlit at night, and the square is closed off and rebuilt as a stage for the New Year celebrations each December.
