From a roof terrace at the old porcelain works the camera looks over Tiergarten rooftops to the towers of the western centre. Little of the foreground is lit at this hour.

The illuminated Mercedes star turns on its block to the left, a group of lit high-rises stands near the zoo on the right, and the long brick ranges of the manufactory itself fill the foreground with their steep dark roofs. A lit window or two marks the terrace level below the camera.

It is a skyline view rather than a street one, and it works best in the blue half hour after sunset, when the towers are lit but the sky still has colour in it. By full night the foreground roofs disappear altogether.
